Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking an Immigration Paralegal for either the Charlotte, NC or Charleston, SC office. This individual will be responsible for preparing and filing immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applications and petitions as well as responses to complex requests or other inquiries from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services ("USCIS") and other government agencies. This position also serves as a liaison between Womble Immigration Solutions and staff, clients, and government agencies to achieve the goals and objectives of clients and the firm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Properly prepare and file immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applications and petitions, as well as responses to routine requests for evidence or other inquiries from USCIS and other government agencies.
Open new processes in Immigration Tracker ("Tracker"), review Tracker to-do's and reminders on a daily basis, update Tracker records daily and update client status charts on a regular basis
Provide clients with timely and professional service, always seeking to exceed client expectations by proactively anticipating the next step in each case and following up with clients as needed
Track client expiration dates and filing deadlines, initiate inquiries for extensions or next steps in cases as needed, communicate with clients to facilitate completion of cases, all the while seeking guidance from Immigration Team Lead ("TL") as needed
Attend and participate in legal and firm meetings, in-house seminars, and client consultations
Prepare cases are as completely as possible for TL review, identifying or highlighting any uncertain issues or missing information
Assemble cases for filing, ensuring that all procedural requirements for filing cases are met including filing fee, signatures, assembly of exhibits, jurisdiction, etc.
Facilitate communications with clients and TL regarding information needed and status of cases
Develop trusting and professional relationships with client contacts through regular communication
Draft supporting letters and client correspondence.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Two (2) years of immigration paralegal experience.
Excellent attention to detail.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be well-organized and have ability to meet established deadlines.
Proficiency in using MS Office applications (including Excel).
Ability to conduct research and effectively use immigration legal research tools such as AILA INFONET.
