Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

Supervises warehousing, material operations, receiving, product replenishment, and distribution for Sparrow Lansing Hospital
and warehouse. Responsible for enforcing inventory policies and procedures to ensure all standards are achieved and the resources of the organization are being used in a responsible manner. Conducts distribution projects related to Sparrow Health System.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis.Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader.Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

  • Provide oversight of roles relating to the management of inventory at Sparrow Hospital, Sparrow Lansing facilities facilities, and Sparrow Warehousing.
  • Create, maintain, and enforce all inventory and receiving policies and procedures ensuring that Supply Chain best practices are utilized.
  • Provide oversight and develop Union employees.
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and annual reporting of the progress of the inventory management program to Sparrow Leadership.
  • Use advanced data analysis techniques to optimize the inventory management program with the goal of eliminating waste and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the inventory program.
  • Identify and implement potential cost savings relating to inventory optimizations and product mix.
  • Provide process improvement plans and cost savings recommendations to Supply Chain Leadership using data driven analysis.
  • Lead the annual inventory counts and report all values, variances, and remediation. Serve as the liaison between the Supply Chain Management department and the Finance department for all inventory related matters.
  • Oversee the removal of recalled products and issue quality alerts.
  • Oversee the use of information technology and materials management software relating to the inventory control and receiving processes.
  • Lead all par and inventory optimization projects at the Sparrow Hospital, Sparrow Hospital warehouse, and Sparrow St. Lawrence locations.
  • Prepare Caregiver daily schedules and assignments to ensure that proper coverage is utilized.
  • Ensure payroll is completed on a biweekly basis.
  • Assist the Manager in hiring, developing, and disciplining of Supply Chain Caregivers as necessary and complete Caregiver Performance Appraisals.
  • Maintain Caregiver records as specified in Human Resources Policies/Procedures and UAW Contract.

Job Requirements

Work Experience * See Education section * Demonstrated project management experience preferred * Hospital or other industry supervisory experience preferred
Education * High school diploma/GED and a minimum of 7 years of increasing responsibility in materials management, inventory control, distribution, purchasing, or materials management information systems; OR Associates degree in business or related field and a minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibility in materials management, inventory control, distribution, purchasing, or materials management information systems; OR Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business or related field and a minimum of 3 years of increasing responsibility in materials management, inventory control, distribution, purchasing, or materials management information systems. * Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Healthcare, or related field - preferred
Specialized Knowledge and Skills * Advanced professional experience with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint * Demonstrated understanding of advanced supply chain concepts and strategies * Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional presence * Demonstrated experience in a customer service environment * Demonstrated ability to work creatively, independently and analytically in a problem-solving environment * Experience using mobile technology in a professional environment * Demonstrated experience working in a process improvement and change orientated workplace * Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job * Demonstrated experience working in a matrixed, geographically dispersed organization preferred * Demonstrated working knowledge of Lean principles preferred * Familiarly with medical terminology and the healthcare field preferred * Demonstrated understanding of how business decisions and inventory management relate to finance preferred
